Once a hockey stick has been grown out of, broken, or just isn't going to be used for hockey anymore, it can be used in the garden as a guiding pole for vines and other climbing plants. Some plants need something that they can wrap themselves around and continue upwards on so that they can flourish. Other long, pole-like things, such as broomsticks can also be reused in this manner. Just push or hammer them into the ground, and voila, you have a free, recycled garden pole.
